Customer Questions The Value Of Training Aids
Here is an email I just got from a customer who apparently received this email from a website selling training aids.
My question would be that if On-Deck Donuts have been proven by sports science not to increase bat speed…but to actually slow it down, how then do weighted baseballs work to increase arm speed? I have yet to hear an explanation of how weighted baseballs work to improve velocity. It cannot be because of overload because weighted balls are too light to provide any physiological change within any of the muscles of the arm. Plus we must remember that velocity is the result of the summation of the bodies forces…actually trunk rotation speed…not arm strength. How then do weighted balls actually work?
Mr. Mills, Here is yet one more reason why I decided to purchase your program and abide by your philosophy. “Magic Bullets” simply don’t work and they never have–in fact, they can even hurt baseball players, yet the ads coming out around the holidays are pushing these gimmicks more and more! The next conversation we’ll have to have will be how to convince the current varisty coaches that distance running (2.5 mile runs) don’t help pitchers…stay tuned.
THX again–Bill
