"Coach Mills, I thought you would like to hear about your first NH High School client getting drafted to the Yankees.

The pointers you gave got him into the low 90's this spring. Thanks for your help!"

Dear Pitching Insiders,

Imagine for a minute with me, sitting down some time from now to watch your son pitch the first game of his senior season of high school. You’re out in the bleachers completely relaxed, and when you look out at your son preparing on the mound, you marvel at how far he’s come, and how relaxed and composed he looks. Before the game you two had shared a moment, when he said “Thanks Dad, for everything you have done to help me get to this point.”

Now, 20 minutes past that moment that swell of pride in your chest hasn’t really gone away yet, and you glance around at all the people here at the game. You still quite can’t get used to seeing all the pro scouts that are there to watch your son pitch. It’s here at this moment, while you’re counting the number of scouts here which will help your son achieve his dream, that you thank yourself for the decision you made a few years back...

To Stop Trusting Conventional Wisdom and Start Learning The Best Way To Pitch According To Sports Science Research

Dick Mills

Hello, my name is Dick Mills.

I am a former Boston Red Sox pitcher. I used to consider myself a traditional pitching instructor until 2004 when I read some research that completely changed my thinking about how to help pitchers improve faster than I ever thought possible.

Here’s the scoop. I’ve been in your shoes before, and I made the decision to quit believing what everyone preached to me about what works when it comes to pitching, and to start doing my own research. We’ll get to some of the shocking revelations I uncovered, but first, I want you to know that the situation described above can happen to you. How do I know? Because it happened to my son Ryan and I.

As A Freshman In High School My Son Ryan Was Only Throwing In The Low 70’s

By the time he was a high school senior, he was still a tall skinny lefty weighing just 176 lbs., but by then he was throwing low 90's. He added over 20 mph during his high school career.

Ryan may have been skinny but after being trained properly by my wife, he was functionally strong and explosive for pitching. (Ryan didn’t follow the typical training advice of his coaches - who wanted him in the weight room and doing towel drills, but more on that in a minute). Because of Ryan's superb conditioning his body was able to support his mechanics so that he could produce force, but most importantly, transfer this force more efficiently.

The end result? A silky smooth delivery, that maximized every bit of that 176 lb. frame. This is also why there were 44 pro scouts at his first high school game his senior year...all with radar guns.

Ryan was named the top high school lefty in the nation as a senior by Baseball America magazine.  He got over 70 offers to play D1 baseball, and ended up choosing Arizona State, where he is still the last Arizona State pitcher to start the final game of the College World Series...

During The College World Series, Ryan Was Drafted
By The Minnesota Twins #6 In The 1st Round,
And Received A $2 Million Dollar Signing Bonus.

I share this with you not to brag, but to show you that it can be accomplished with hard work...not just talent. Now I realize if you’re anything like me, you’re probably a bit skeptical. Maybe you’re even aware that 93% of high school pitchers will never pitch in college. Which means the statistical odds are already stacked against your son getting that college scholarship.

Dick and Ryan Mills

He Received A Division 1 Scholorship,
AND a $2 Million Dollar Signing Bonus
by Going #6 in the 1st Round.

So how can you be in the 7% that does make it? Well you can start by not following the same traditional pitching advice that the 93% that won’t make it to college ball are following, because it’s not working. And if you want some proof, let me share with you some disturbing facts...

Arm Injuries Are Happening At An Alarming Rate…
Even Little Leaguers Are Having Surgery

In the last 7 years, according to The American Sport Medicine Institute, arm surgeries on high school pitchers have increased ten times -- even Little League pitchers are having elbow surgery. Don't let your son be one of those because of poor coaching advice!

This is another big reason why parents must get their Little League pitchers as mechanically sound, and as functionally strong and flexible as possible. And you might even be thinking to yourself that surgery doesn’t seem that common because you don’t know any little leaguers that have had surgery, but did you know...

50% Of Little League And High School Pitchers
Are Pitching With Chronic Pain

Yes, HALF of our kids are pitching with pain! Recent studies have shown the nearly 50% of Little League and high school pitchers have pain when they pitch. This is why Tommy John surgeries at the youth levels have increased 7 TIMES over the recent ten year period.

Pain is a signal from the body to stop pitching. This is a serious warning sign that there is a flaw in the pitcher's mechanics or his ability to recover because the pitcher's arm is doing too much of the work...when it is the body that should be producing velocity - not the arm.

By now I hope you’re starting to see the bigger picture, that what we’ve been teaching our kids is not working...

In fact, I realized Baseball has been wrong all along about pitching. So...

To Find Better Answers I Hired A Sports Scientist With 40 Years Experience

In early 2004, to find better answers about how to boost pitching performance and keep pitchers healthy, I did not use my own professional experience or the experience of other well known pitching gurus whom I know and have studied for years... but instead I hired the services of a world renowned sports scientist to find out what the research had to say. And the results are going to shock you, but before I share those with you, I want you to know that I was taught the same thing your kids are being taught now.

Like many other former professional pitchers, I was guilty of following common pitching beliefs that could not be substantiated. For example, I used to use many pitching drills to help improve pitching mechanics, such as the balance drill or towel drill, thinking they helped. But as I found out from the leading research, pitching drills actually create robotic and over-thinking pitchers who move slower and end up with paralysis of analysis. Drills actually kill velocity potential.

Even after hundreds, or thousands, of towel drills, research has proven that pitchers will go back to their old habits once they face competition. Why? Because they have only been practicing the drill...not practicing the change that must occur within the entire delivery when it comes time to deliver in a real live situation. The drill cannot easily be inserted within the entire pitching motion. So as a pitcher you get very good at the drill, but your overall mechanics remain the same!

The science has been clear on this for many years.

Why, you may be asking? Well it has to do with a very common misconception...

Science Says - It’s NOT The Arm That Produces Velocity

The key to producing velocity can be boiled down to five things: momentum, leg drive, stride length, timing, and mechanics. The arm is basically along for the ride. Velocity is about making sure these five separate core skills are functioning together as one cohesive package to create explosive movement, NOT about arm strength.

So why is it that most instructors focus on the arm? Because, unaware of this new research, they are telling pitchers that the arm is what produces velocity when the research has proven it is the body that produces velocity while the arm is mainly used for control.

Imagine learning too late that activities such as:

  • long toss
  • towel drills (kneeling drills and balance drills)
  • weight lifting
  • weighted balls
  • stretching

Have Recently Been PROVEN By Sports Scientists To Actually Reduce Performance and May Actually Lead To MORE Arm Injuries

And yet these activities are endorsed by the majority of coaches and pitching instructors today...even former professional pitchers online or at baseball clinics nationwide.

This brings us to a very important question.

What’s More Important To Velocity? Arm Strength or Arm Speed

The arm does not speed up all by itself and that's why most youth and high school pitchers don't throw harder...and end up with sore arms or a serious arm injury. Most just use their arm. They think that's where the power comes from. But once they understand how to use their lower body to stretch out to create more power you can see those increases of velocity of 6-12 mph—many times in a very short time. Sometimes in just a couple of weeks.

What about long toss? Does it really help develop velocity?

There is no proof that long toss can improve a pitcher’s velocity. NONE!

In Fact Long Toss Proves To Be Stressful On the Arm, and Teaches Poor Mechanics.

In January 2009 I was invited to give a 30 minute presentation at the 27th annual American Sports Medicine Institute’s (ASMI) Course On Baseball Injuries. My wife Ginny and I had previously attended five of these conferences.

In that presentation I showed why the release point in long toss is not only far more stressful than mound pitching but because the ball is released just in front of the head and behind the trunk and landing knee that long toss is teaching pitchers to release the ball completely differently than from the mound. Essentially long toss is teaching mechanics that no pitching coach would tolerate when pitching from the mound.

After my presentation, the head of ASMI, Dr. James Andrews who had listened to the entire thing, spoke up and said “This needs further study.” He then ordered a new study to begin on the effects of long toss.

That study was just completed and the results were reported at the Jan. 2011 ASMI Baseball Injuries Course. The results prove that long toss, where the release point is altered from regular mound pitching, interferes with building good pitching mechanics.

Still not convinced?

Here Is Major League Veteran Of 26 Years, Tommy John,
And What He Has To Say About Long Toss:

"I'm not an advocate of long throwing. Shortstops and catchers don't long toss, so why do pitchers do it?” - Tommy John

I can just hear this thought in your head now, “But Dick, I always see MLB pitchers doing long toss before their games? If long toss doesn’t help velocity, why do professionals do it?”

Professional pitchers believe that their coaches have done their due diligence and have fully researched what they are being taught. Unfortunately, what sports science has proven is most baseball coaches rely on common beliefs rather than research.

So professional pitchers have been wrongly led to believe by their coaches that long toss is beneficial for pitching velocity, when there's ZERO research to support it. The common belief is because everybody does it then it must create velocity. Nolan Ryan when he first came up to the big leagues in the early 70s was throwing 105 miles an hour. No long toss—no weight training.

I’m not saying long toss is always bad, and to never do it. I’m just saying you should know what the science has proven about what long toss is good for, and use it accordingly! As it turns out, long toss can have two benefits. The first is as part of a full body conditioning program during the off season...and as a short warm-up before pitching. But the distance should be short so that the normal release point is not affected. And if you’re trying to improve velocity?

Science has proven pitching from the mound is far better than long toss for improving or maintaining velocity.

Here’s another claim that has never been proven by science...

Be Careful Of The Hype! Weighted Balls And Gimmicks Do Not Work

Do you question the claims of adding 7-10 mph by just throwing weighted baseballs? Does that sound too good to be true? Be very careful of outrageous claims or products that are hyped because if they sound too good to be true—they generally are. Especially on the internet.

That is exactly the case with weighted baseballs. If they worked as they have been hyped to work, I promise you I would be selling them. But I don't. The risk to reward ratio is much too high. And the one and only study that has ever been done is seriously flawed.

Weighted balls end up wasting valuable practice time. And that's why they have been around for over 30 years with little success. If they really worked wouldn't professional baseball be using them to get all pitcher's fastballs into the 90's?

What about this one, we’ve all heard it a million time...

Weight Training Will Maximize Overall Pitching Performance!

Whether it is from high school coaches, college coaches or pro scouts... what you will hear over and over again is that if a pitcher wants to throw harder he needs to get "bigger and stronger." This is one of the most misunderstood ideas related to pitching velocity.

Here is what the American Academy Of Pediatrics has to say about the value of weight lifting for improving sports performance:

“Strength training can improve an adolescent athlete's performance in weight lifting and power lifting. Strength training is a common practice in sports like football in which size and strength are desirable. Despite theoretical benefits, scientific studies have failed to consistently show that improved strength enhances running speed, jumping ability, or overall sports performance. Young people who want to improve sports performance will generally benefit more from practicing and perfecting skills of the sport than from resistance training.”

This is the type of information that the strength training advocates do not want you to know.  And since coaches do not read the sports science research they continue to stay misinformed.

The fact is that pitching is not a strength activity or strength sport anymore than golf. After all ask yourself this question - how much strength do you think a pitcher really needs in order to move or throw a 5 oz baseball. And the answer is - not very much. And the reason comes from sport science. Pitching is much more about moving the body faster and stretching it out in order to throw harder. And no amount of weight training or more general strength will help a pitcher move his body faster so he can put as many muscles on stretch as quickly as possible. But it could very well slow him down because bigger means more body mass and more to move.

So If It's Not Strength, Where Does Pitching Velocity Come From?

Pitching velocity comes from elastic energy by putting muscles on stretch... stretching the body out like huge rubber band… not from general strength from lifting weights. Coaches have it all backwards.

Ask yourself this question. If a pitcher's velocity was dependent on going into the weight room how then did major league pitchers throw hard prior to weight training? Nolan Ryan for example, when he first got to the big leagues was throwing many times over 100 mph when he was much skinnier and nearly 15 years before he ever picked up a dumbbell.

Besides that... there is no supported research that weight training reduces the risk of injury. My belief is that weight training may be the reason that arm injuries seem to have increased.

If velocity was about having more strength, how then do Little League pitchers throw 65-80 mph which is the equivalent of throwing upper 80's to low 90's from 60' 6"?

"I just wanted to let you know that my son Blake had a great year. He is 15 years old and he is a freshman at George Washington High School in Danville Virginia.

Blake was 5-2 on the year with a 1.96 era. He was actually the team ace. He threw 50 innings and had 64 k's. He has topped out at 89 mph. Throws a 4 seam and 2 seam fastball, curveball, changeup and occasional slider. He won most valuable playe rand had the best numbers in the district of all of the pitchers.

He was named First Team All Western Valley District. Blake has tried out for the Virginia Commonwealth Games and is the only underclassman that made the team. All of the remaining players are juniors. There are four teams from four different sections of the state that will be playing a round robin tournament in the presence of 60-70 pro and college scouts.

We owe all of his success to your program and we will continue to work hard. We

started with your program when Blake was 11 years old and it has payed off. You help keep Blake sharp.

“Ok Dick, those are great examples with former big leaguers and little leaguers. What about current professional players?”

Is Tim Lincecum big and strong? Far from it. When Pedro Martinez was throwing 96-98 mph he was 5’10” and 170 lbs… just like Tim Lincecum. Let’s talk more about Tim, because he’s a great example of what I’m talking about...

Tim Lincecum… Small 5'10" 170 lb. Major League Who Throws 95-100 mph
Confirms What I Have Been Preaching For Years…
Small Kids Can Throw... Hard

The real secret to improving pitching velocity is using the lower body to deliver the arm. The arm is basically along for the ride. In fact, San Francisco Giants Cy Young award winner and pitching sensation, Tim Lincecum, who is 5'10" 170 lbs and is considered small and skinny and yet still throws 95-100 mph was quoted last year about his 100 mph fastball saying:

"My body does all the work and my arm is like a whip that comes along for the ride."
- Tim Lincecum, Giants.

Tim Lincecum is saying that it is his body that achieves velocity... NOT his arm. And yet the large majority of coaches out there do not understand that.

Tim is able to throw harder than most pitchers who are 6" taller and 50 lbs. heavier, proving that size and strength are not the determining factors for learning over-powering velocity.

So what’s his secret? It’s simple, explosive pitching mechanics. Let me give you an example:

Why Tim Lincecum Has A Long Stride And Why You Must Teach It

Tim Lincecum's stride length is 120 % of his height...not 80% or 90%. However, this is a bit extreme, as most pitchers are not able to manage a stride that much longer than their height. But pitchers should easily be able to stride 100% of their height, which is what should be happening for most pitchers.

Lincecum's long stride occurs because of explosive forward momentum as he moves his body quickly away from the rubber. He achieves his velocity because of the energy that his body builds by stretching out like a huge rubber band which whips or pulls his arm forward like a jet-powered slingshot.

Tim Lincecum, who is small and skinny, throwing 95-100 mph, finally proves that pitching velocity does not come from the arm at all. He is proof of what I have been saying for years about how small skinny pitchers can throw over-powering fastballs by focusing on using the body and a long stride to deliver the arm.

There is no magic training formula that produces more velocity. Except… maybe videotaping. There are no special arm exercises or weight training routine. It is all about building powerful pitching mechanics instead of trying to gain more arm or getting bigger and stronger.

Speaking of video taping, I’m ready to reveal...

The #1 Secret I've Learned From Sports Science Research

The most powerful thing I learned from this sports scientist - who have spent their lives studying the mechanics of the body - was it is nearly impossible to use the naked eye when trying to spot mechanical problems… because there is a lot going on, too many things you need to pay attention to all at once. Plus the movement of a pitcher’s arm is the fastest human motion in sports. Using just the naked eye does not work.

The naked eye can tell you when something’s off, but can’t be used effectively to show you how to fix it. Imagine learning 2, 3, or even 5 years too late that your son has a major mechanical fault that reduced his velocity 5-7 or even 10 mph? And that it cost him the opportunity to pitch in high school or college...or cost him his dream of playing pro ball?

If you learn how to videotape to easily see the common faults that reduce velocity in all pitchers, you can help him years before it’s too late. Learning how to do this properly will maximize his velocity, and can change his entire pitching career from mediocre to highly successful.

*IMPORTANT note for parents of all pitchers: Here are some easy ways to check if your son is losing velocity:

Does he do any of the following while pitching:

  • Any slow movements or hesitation?
  • Does he look herky-jerky?
  • Collapse his back leg?
  • Break his hands too high or too early?
  • Have a stride less than his height?

All these actions have proven to reduce pitching velocity, but do you know what to do about it?

Many Parents Are Concerned About Their Son's Getting Good Instruction

Can you afford to follow pitching advice that does not improve performance, wastes time and may be dangerous? Many of you will have your son attend an off-season baseball school that does not do a video evaluation of his mechanics, and will end up being a waste of money. How can they fix something if they can’t accurately tell you what’s wrong? Or maybe your son will spend all his time doing drills, or just pitching with no sensible plan.

Will you learn the hard way like this parent?

"I had spent several hundred dollars on a pitching coach that was leading my son on a path of ruin. He embraced and taught every failed philosophy and technique that you've identified - long toss, towel drills, and more drills, ad nauseam. My son's skills were deteriorating."

Mark Smith, Downers Grove, Il

If you’re serious about improving your sons pitching, no matter if it’s little league, high school, or if you’re looking for the absolute best information to ensure your son has a shot at that coveted college scholarship and even pro ball, you need to read the next section.

5 Reasons Why My Program Is Different And More Effective

As you know, in 2004 I started following sports science research as it applies to pitching. The sports science research overwhelmingly does not agree with the large majority of what is being taught today by most coaches and instructors about how to help pitchers improve.

#1: How do you improve velocity?

What most coaches and instructors do: Because most coaches and instructors believe strength improves velocity, rather than mechanics, they focus on building more arm strength and strength in the weight room.  As I’ve already shown you, research has proven that strength is not a big factor for maximizing velocity.

What we do: We videotape and find the mechanical faults that prevent pitchers from maximizing force production and efficiently transferring those forces from the body to the arm.

#2: How do you improve mechanics?

What most coaches and instructors do:  Most use pitching drills such as the towel drill, balance drill, or kneeling drill. However research has proven that because pitching has no hesitation or stopping in the motion,  introducing small segments such as drills is ineffective in creating a smooth and explosive movement. In fact, these drills actually create slowing movements and more robotic actions.

What we do: Again by using videotaping we are able to find faults that reduce performance and add stress to the arm.  By showing the pitcher what he is doing and then what he should be doing he is able to understand why he needs to change. He is then able to rehearse the new movement and then practice it.

#3: How do you improve control?

What most coaches and instructors do:  Most coaches believe that control is just focusing on a location, or slowing the pitcher down. Throwing pitches to random locations has not proven to help an activity such as pitching where practicing hitting specific targets is required.

What we do: Once pitchers gain more consistent mechanics then ball control is a matter of throwing a large volume of the same pitch to the same location over and over, until the brain understands how to direct the ball to that specific location. It should become second nature.

How do we accomplish this? We help pitchers focus on throwing pitches in many blocked sets of 5-8 pitches to each location until they perfect control of that location before switching to another one. This has been proven by research to be far more effective. Ball location and control is a skill that must be practiced often, rather than just mental focus in the moment.

#4: How do you use practice time to improve a pitcher’s performance?

What most coaches and instructors do:  Coaches have pitchers doing long toss, flat ground pitching, pitching drills, and a host of actions that actually interfere with developing consistent mound mechanics, where the pitcher will be required to pitch downhill to the hitter. Any action that is not specific to game pitching will not help a pitcher improve for games... no matter how good the intensions of coaches are.

What we do: To improve overall pitching performance our focus is on devoting as much time as possible to mound pitching since this is what pitchers are required to do to get hitters out. The more a pitcher practices from the mound the better feel he gets for his mechanics and is more easily able to repeat his actions. Sports science has proven that if you want to improve an activity you must specifically practice that activity... not some other activity.

Based on the research, it appears that most pitchers at the amateur level are wasting 50% or more of their time on practice activities that will not help improve their overall pitching performance. This is time they will never get back.

#5: How do you condition yourself for pitching and increased velocity?

What most coaches and instructors do: Most coaches believe strength is the key to more velocity.  Again, arm strength or fully body strength is not much of a factor for improving velocity according to research and yet misinformed coaches continue to force their beliefs on pitchers about how to train. Because weight training requires slower movements the body is actually being trained to move slower so pitchers can actually lose velocity and because of poor weight training technique or using too much weight, shoulder injuries can result.

What we do: Research has proven that pitching is not a strength activity but a speed of movement and explosive activity. Thus large amounts of strength are not required to maximize velocity or to reduce the risk of injury.

Plus there is no magic conditioning program that will produce velocity. Conditioning is about getting a pitchers functionally fit and strong for pitching but there is no conditioning program that will produce more velocity. Velocity comes from mechanics. Don't buy all the other hype.

Again, let’s use the Giants' Tim Lincecum as a good example. He is a 5'10" 170 lbs. and according to his father has never done much weight training but has focused more on more functional and explosive training. This has been our focus since 1999 when we introduced Conditioning The Pitcher For Power DVD's, where we emphasized full body explosive exercises that also helped create more functional flexibility.

Here’s an extra nugget of pitching information for you. In 2004 a study proved that static stretching prior to pitching not only reduces velocity but adds to the risk of shoulder injuries. (If you want to look it up, it can be found in Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise: Volume 36(5) Supplement May 2004 p S136-S137 - “Effects of Stretching the Upper Limb on Throwing speed and Isokinetic Shoulder Torques”)

Many coaches, who do not read sports science studies and thus continue to have pitchers stretch before they pitch, are increasing the risk of injury and reducing velocity!

Now… what if I told you that you should not listen to me or any other former professional pitcher… even top big league veterans about how to improve your pitching performance, just because we played at a high level. And that over 90% of what I have learned about how to help pitchers improve, I learned from sports scientists... NOT from pitching gurus.

Big league pitchers might know how to pitch… but most admit they do NOT know how to teach what they do so well. And if you’ve done any research, you know that there are tons of options out there...

Why Other Programs Promise Results But Fall Short Of Producing Them

Pitching, like golf and hitting, are primarily skill activities… not strength activities. So any pitching improvement program, whether for velocity, control or reducing the risk of injuries must focus largely on mechanical fault detection and fault correction. This is why videotaping must be the cornerstone or the foundation of any pitching improvement program.

If you cannot recognize the mechanical fault because you are not videotaping then the pitcher will continue with his bad habits and is robbed of both velocity and control, and may be getting closer and closer to a serious arm injury.

I’ll say it again because it’s so important. Pitching velocity is not about getting more strength. When pitchers learn how to use their body more explosively and efficiently and pass off that energy to the arm as late as possible, only then does arm speed and velocity improve. So velocity must be learned by practicing often - while videotaping - so any faults can be quickly eliminated.

Many parents are being sold a bill of goods by coaches with good baseball backgrounds. Even programs that are run by former professional pitchers, coaches or scouts should be looked on with skepticism since most have not read the research and cannot back up their claims of improvement with evidence. Most just follow common pitching beliefs.

Do You Have These Concerns About Your Son’s Pitching
And Don’t Know What To Do?

Of course you do, otherwise you wouldn’t have made it this far on the page. And if you’re like a lot of parents...I’m sure you have the same questions that many of our customers used to have before they got their sons out to Arizona for some 1 on 1 instruction.

For example maybe you have these concerns and don’t quite know what to do...

  • Your son has a good arm and wants to pitch but the coach won’t let him because he can’t throw strikes... he needs better control but you don’t know what adjustments to make, what to do or where to turn
  • He’s not consistent - he has a good game and then a couple of bad games and you don’t want him to get discouraged
  • You suspect his throwing mechanics are poor and you think it could lead to injury
  • He can throw the ball but he just doesn’t look powerful enough - he looks slow and mechanical
  • He doesn’t look smooth or fluid - he’s too herky-jerky or looks a little stiff
  • He is constantly complaining of a sore arm - and you're getting worried!
  • You aren’t sure that his coach really knows much about pitching...

Don’t worry, I have just the thing for you, and it won’t involve a flight to come visit me in Arizona!

From Videotaping Hundreds Of Pitchers We Have Identified Over 25 Pitching Faults That Reduce Velocity and Control And Add Stress To The Arm

Amazingly, when you fix the lower body action the upper body and the throwing arm just about take care of themselves. This is exactly why upper body pitching drills make absolutely no sense and put the focus on the wrong thing, since it’s the lower body that acts as the producer of energy for the arm.

This new system I developed is so easy to learn that even single Moms are finding this to be a lot of fun. It's just like connecting the dots...once you get the knack of it. It just makes good common sense - and here’s the best part - it’s proven by science!

New Instructional DVD's Focus On Proven Results...
Instead Of Hyped Promises

As I said, in 2004 I stopped listening to what other instructors and coaches were recommending because the new research proved that pitching practice activities were just not working to produce results. So I completely revamped my instructional program and put all the new researched instruction on DVD. We’ve even recently updated our program with a brand new DVD (containing information which we researched for nearly one year before making available to our clients). So you know that you will be getting the latest pitching instruction backed by science.

I titled my new instructional program the Major League Pitching Package, but don’t let the name mislead you. This DVD program has been helping Little League pitchers play high school ball, get college scholarships, and even helps college pitchers reach their dream of pro ball - all while helping produce nearly $5 million dollars in bonus money for those who have used this system. Will you be next? And it’s all based on the simple idea I’ve been repeating over and over again on this page - it’s the body that produces velocity, and not the arm.

Are you looking for monster gains and guaranteed solutions to help boost your overall pitching performance, proven to work, and easy to understand?

Do you want the real truth about how to boost velocity 6-12 mph, how to attack the strike zone with better control, build functional strength with flexibility and finally put an end to sore arms?

What about the best secret about how to build real confidence and mental toughness on the mound?

Are you tired of overpriced camps, expensive pitching instructors or books, videos, DVDs or that promise the world but deliver next to nothing? Are you sick of wondering what they really meant, while having no solid plan of action? And no guaranteed success? Fed up with all the "magic bullets" like weighted baseballs that have been around for nearly 30 years with no success - and with the added risk of arm injury?

If you nodded you head to any of these, I’ve got just the solution for you.

My Major League Pitching Package instructional DVD program is guaranteed to get your son on track, whether he is 8 just starting out or a high school pitcher trying to get that college scholarship.

This Program Is Easy To Understand…
Even For Moms Who Can’t Throw A Ball 10 feet

This program is so easy to understand that fathers - and single mom's - who have ZERO baseball experience, are creating big time success stories for their own sons. Many have already fired their pitching instructors saving that $50 and hour.

Find out why pitching coaches are angry and upset by the information in this program -- they try to discredit it, but scientific studies and results have shown its effectiveness time and time again...

Wow, that’s a lot of stuff, and I’m sure you may be wondering...

How Much Is The Complete Major League Pitching Package Going To Cost Me?

Well, I charge $397 for a video analysis, and you’ll be getting 20 video analysis sessions with real clients for you to learn from...

I charge $1995 for two days of one-on-one instruction, or $1295 for a three hour lesson…which people gladly pay. Why? Because I base all instruction on scientific research not my old baseball beliefs.

Here is what two fathers of a college freshman pitcher had to say about my one-on-one instruction:

“Dick…this visit was all I hoped it would be for Steve… him too, and he is really amped up now about moving forward from here. He even impressed ME with the way he was so open to the suggested changes, exercises and all, and now says he can't even visualize anymore how he was throwing before we came.”
John N…Houston, TX

“Dick…your work on pitching mechanics is the best because you have a scientific approach. You have been able to identify the faults in mechanics and offer specific solutions to correct the problem. This makes your coaching unique and valid in the never ending quest for improvement. See you next year.”
John Limanowski, IL.

I figure if I tried to teach you and your son all that was in this program...it would take about 21 days to even scratch the surface... or about 21 lessons. Let's just round down and say on average about 20 hours of instruction by me... That’d work out to about $8,500!

Instead you can get my instruction for a fraction of what parents are paying for one-on-one lessons, and I show you exactly what I do to improve mechanics, velocity and control while making sure you keep your son’s arm healthy.

But don't only consider the price of this package with what I put into it.

Also consider the price of about 2-3 average pitching lessons where you will have nothing to refer back to?…where you will not learn how to videotape and instantly find faults that kill velocity or control.

So how much? How much would you pay to change your sons pitching future? How much would you pay to help him get that college scholarship. How much would you pay to help him get that signing bonus from the pro’s?

$10,000? $20,000?

Well, it’s not going to cost you nearly that much. In fact, it’s not going to even cost the thousands of dollars in wasted pitching coaching that teach your son drills that have been proven to not work. And it’s not going to cost you the thousands of dollars you’d pay for lessons with me. In fact it’s not even going to cost you $1,000...

Right now you can get my transformational Major League Pitching Package for $597. That’s a bargain for everything that’s contained in it, and compared to the time you will waste on other programs chasing magic results.

But wait, because right now you won’t pay the regular price of $597. For today, because I want to help you help your son succeed I’m making this ridiculously affordable… just $267 …a complete "no brainer."

"I purchased Dick Mills' Major League Package for my son six months ago and he started implementing changes immediately thereafter. For the recently completed high school season, he went 6-1 with an ERA of 1.50, 80 Ks, and 8BBs in 65 innings and made first team All-District in Class 5A in Texas as a Junior. We are such big believers in Dick and his products, we scheduled a one-on-one two day session with Dick and his son for later this month. Thanks, Dick!"

Think How Your Son Will Benefit
And How Good You Will Feel Knowing
He Is Finally On The Right Track

You cannot afford to make a mistake with your son’s pitching instruction. There is too much at stake. You can’t put a price on his confidence and the health of his arm.

You will find the education from my program is dozens of times more valuable than what you pay for even 10 lessons at $50-75 an hour. And unlike a lesson, you will have this program to refer to as long as your son pitches. Not to mention...

Lessons Get Very Expensive With No Videotaping,
Because Instructors Are Only Guessing

Think about what ongoing lessons and clinics will cost...and the fact you get NO guarantee. If your son gets one lesson a week for three months that's at least $600.00. That $600 could be a bargain if it's good instruction, or a complete disaster that could set your son back in his pitching and his confidence, and end up being a complete waste of time and money.

Plus, what will you have to refer to when you are working together in the back yard? Or what will you do when he has a poor performance? Wait for the next lesson? With the Major League Pitching Package you won’t have to, because you’ll have it available instantly to help you in any situation.

Think about it this way. Every time you use my program you save $50-75 and you can use it every single day if you want to. What’s that going to save you in time and money? Hundreds of dollars? Thousands? The more you use it the better your investment becomes.

And if your son pitches right on into high school, or college, imagine how much of a bargain this program will be. The longer you continue to use it the cheaper it gets...and the better investment it is for you...and more importantly your son.

The entire course is the next best thing to having a professional pitching coach right there with you everyday, plus no other program can back up their claims with scientific research.

In fact I’m so confident that you’re going to love the results you see with my Major League Pitching Package, I’m offering you...

My 100% "1 Year" Money Back "We Part Friends" GUARANTEE

...imagine you can try it out for one full year - an entire season and see if you can get the results you hope for. I take all the risk. You take none. And you don't even have to return the bonuses that come in the package.

If my program is not everything I describe - including being the best pitching instruction out there - simply return it to us within 1 year of date of purchase. Just ship back the package and I will refund all your money immediately. (minus the small shipping and handling costs, of course.) No hassle! I will treat you the way I wish people treated me and my wife Ginny. You do not need to give a reason for returning the material for a refund. Your word is good enough. So there’s nothing you need to worry about, if you don’t see the results you want 1 year from now, simply return it!

What does this guarantee tell you about our program? People just don’t return it. It’s too valuable. And they want our support if there’s ever a follow up question.

Does this sound just a little too good to be true?

It's Okay, I respect your skepticism. It's healthy. I can’t blame you. I am the same way.

We have over 22,000 who have used our program since 1996. Thousands of testimonials from people just like you who have invested in my program. They put what they learned from this program to use and got what they expected and more. You either get the results, or you get your money back. Try that with a camp or video. Or worse yet...free advice from some online baseball discussion forum.

Do you know what we hear all the time...even three or four years later, from those parents who waited too long. "I wish I hadn't waited. He was struggling and had lost all his confidence... And now I can’t thank you enough for giving that back."

What If You Help Your Son Solve A Mechanical Problem Or Two
That When Fixed Boosts His Velocity From 6-12 mph?

Ask yourself what it would be worth to almost instantly find solutions to your son’s mechanical problems, that could boost his velocity 6-12 mph? Imagine what this would do for his pitching and his confidence. You don’t need to imagine, because it’s as simple as letting me teach you proper lower and upper body mechanics so you can easily recognize common problems that most coaches are not aware of because they rarely, if ever, videotape.

And it’s not just your sons confidence that’s at stake...

Every Day That Your Son Pitches With Poor Mechanics He Gets Worse…
And Closer To Injury

Doesn’t videotaping make sense? Wouldn’t following a more scientific system seem sensible? Can you really afford to continue to guess what’s wrong with your son’s pitching mechanics… and not know exactly why his velocity is mediocre. Or why he walks so many hitters? Or why his arm is constantly sore?

Once you start using a simple camcorder and following along using my DVD’s…you will soon be your son’s best pitching instructor and will never again have to guess. His confidence will jump just knowing that you are not guessing, but are in fact using a system that has been proven to work by science. And let me tell you, it can get to be fun when you know what you are talking about and are seeing results, while other parents and coaches are just guessing.

What I’m offering to teach you and your son...is an easy-to-follow system that works fast, is simple to follow, and fun. And it’s the only pitching program backed by science instead of faulty beliefs.

"Dick, just got your DVD’s…. these DVD’s are the most complete and thorough breakdown of pitching mechanics that I have ever seen and I have bought everything that is out there… I almost don’t want too many parents to know of the existence of these DVD’s so my son can have a huge advantage over everyone else when he decides to get back into pitching which he is slowing doing… he stopped pitching because he got hurt trying out for football…. great job, the quality is superb!"

Do yourself a favor and TAKE ACTION Today! Don't waste any more time wondering what works! End the frustration now! Don't let your son pitch below his potential any longer because you can't give him answers...instead build his confidence and skills with a big league plan for flawless mechanics, pin-point control, 6-12 mph more velocity, and an end to sore arms... Don’t delay your sons pitching success any longer, act now!

“Dick’s program has given me the knowledge I need as a pitching coach to help young people succeed. I highly recommend it to any pitcher - Little League through college. From mechanics to conditioning to the mental aspect, everything he does is top notch. His program helped our pitchers go 29-1, have a 0.80 ERA last season, and win a State Championship.”

Banks Faulkner, Gilbert Indian Baseball, Gilbert, SC

“My 14 year old son’s velocity jumped 12 mph, his control improved dramatically and his arm pain vanished. The real story lies inside my son. For the first time since he has been pitching, he understands what he is doing, what causes the ball to do what it does and how his body has to function within the pitching motion itself in order to be effective -- now that is priceless.”

Mark A Smith, Downers Grove, Il

We got the package half way through the season when my 11 year old was throwing 50-53. Then the next Spring he started throwing 63 and finally his velocity jumped to 68-70 mph. I am not an expert. Anyone that gets this program with a little patience can teach their kid mechanics to throw hard and in the zone.”

Let your pitching do the talking,

Dick Mills

P.S. Remember, I take all the risk - you risk nothing. I have been online since August of 1996 and have over 22,000 clients. I am not going anywhere.

If you are skeptical, call or email me. If you are wondering if this fits your situation call or email me. You must have a burning question about pitching that no one seems to know how to answer. Something that may be stopping your son. Or you wonder how you will be able to help him with no baseball experience. That is a no- brainer. This program makes it simple. It’s not rocket science, but if you don’t have the right information it can be. Just because other coaches or instructors make it sound complicated, does not mean it has to be.

I will show you how to videotape so you can spot small problems before they become big ones. How to find the problems that are killing pitching velocity, and how to fix them.

Albert Einstein said: “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.” If you keep doing the same things with your pitching how will your son improve?

"I have received and viewed the DVD's. They are awesome and so easy to understand. I have two computers so I view the various segments of your video and then switch to my laptop and review my son's pitching. Very nice! My son is 11 and has been pitching for only one year. He went to some camps last summer. A lot of times my son would come away very confused because he was being taught something different at the various camps. I have never been a pitcher, so I had to assume that what he was being taught was correct. The videos have made me much more confident in knowing the proper techniques and mechanics as it relates to pitching. Thanks for such a great product that is professionally done with instruction that really works!"

"I purchased your DVD's and ended up watching them EVERY DAY. I ordered some tapes from other pitching coaches but their material always left me with unanswered questions, it would take you to a certain point but not fill in the gaps. However, your tapes and books filled in those gaps for me. The other pitching coaches slowed the pitcher down and made them mechanical... while yours sped them up and made them more natural.

The way you and your son explained the arm swing and landing were really two areas most pitchers have difficulty but the way you teach it really nails it. These DVD's are priceless and can't thank you enough for them."
