I guess the only thing I could think of is already having your hand cocked so the fingers are on top of the ball while your hand is still in the glove. Would that work? I don’t know, I’m just throwing ideas out there. I see some pitchers do this, at least I think they do. I think Papelbon does it, but I’m not sure.
I was wondering the same thing on how to keep your fingers on top of the ball, and I came across a post where this guy recommended throwing a hockey puck by placing the index and middle finger on top and the thumb centered on the bottom of the puck. Just thought I would pass it along hope it helps.
