Hey Gang, New to site and looking for answers to improving velocity. I’ve read and watched a lot of the Mills’ media and am quite interested in their approach. Very different than I’ve been getting from current pitching coaches. Told repeatedly that he has great mechanics and is very consistent around the strike zone but he has average velocity. I also hamper his progression because I won’t let him throw curve balls yet. He does have a good change up and we’ve just started working on a cutter but I’m starting to doubt the long toss and stretching program we’ve been doing for over 2 years. Thoughts/suggestions and/or advice to get him ready for next spring? We’ve decided to just work for the fall and winter and not commit to team practices or games. He is a very hard worker (mom’s a trainer!) and is willing to put time and effort in now for future results!
Welcome. I assume you have videotaped him. Why not throw it up here for some feedback?
Dedicate to fixing his faults one at a time and getting functionally stronger this off-season so he is improved and stronger for next season.
That is the best and simplest plan. Watch out for pitching instructors who can’t tell you how to improve his velocity or his mechanics or those who do not videotape.
Thanks Dick. Will try to get one posted this week. Have to get my son to attach it!!
