You need to explain to your son the value of evidence based information as opposed to belief based…which is what he is hearing from other coaches.
Why did you invest in this program and not another? Explain how you make decisions in life.
As for the All Star coaches…what are their backgrounds for giving instruction and what do they base their instruction on?
Are they coaches or volunteers? 99% of youth coaches are volunteers and have no right to call themselves coaches.
You made possibly a long term investment. How much have they invested in instruction? You need to find this out. Even if they played college or pro ball it does mean they can instruct. It only means they have personal experience that may have served them…but it does not mean it will serve or help others.
Since you made an investment that is backed up with evidence, you need to tell them not to instruct your son…that you have a professional helping you with that.
Anything specific that they are telling him that is contradictory?
I assume your name is Ben.
You are in the right place.
Be careful listening to pitchers like Trevor Bauer or other MLB pitchers when it comes to mechanics or training principles. Most know enough to be dangerous. What they do may not help you and could actually set you back.
I am from East Texas and do not have a son playing ball but I help my brother and brother inlaw work with thier boys. I have a couple of 9 year old nephews getting into baseball and wanting to learn to pitch. The coaches pretty much just show them how to do the stretch and let them throw. I wanted to find something with actual mechanics of pitching information and it looks like I have found the right sight. Thanks for a great sight.
Make sure you go to the Pitching Lesson section and view the many videos. Plus check out Let’s Discuss which you can see in the menu at the top of the page. Welcome. Coach Mills
Have reviewed all the lessons, and the DVD’s I ordered came in today. How to teach high velocity mechanics and the mechanical faults dvd. Also all the extra booklets and stuff are greatly appreciated. My brother in law has them at his house and is going to watch them with TY a few times this week.
