Coming out for a lesson in September; my son and I are very excited to learn and incorporate some changes during the long off-season (we only play April-July in Chicago). During the off-season, I’m presuming to do 2 bullpen sessions per week; 3 would be ideal, but it’s just not realistic with the weather, schedule, etc. So how many pitches should a 10-year-old throw during an off-season bullpen session? We do blocks of 5 (A few blocks 4-seamers in various positions, a couple blocks of cutters, a couple change-ups). That’s about 35 pitches; I’m not sure if that’s enough (after a full-body warm-up, tossing to warm up, and about 10 pitches thrown at 60%). Any thoughts?
