I was at a game last Saturday and was sitting beside the father of one of the pitchers. When the son pitched, the father pulled out a radar gun that was about the size of a cell phone. We were sitting 30-40 feet behind home plate, and he had no trouble getting a reading. But it was consistently 2-3 mph slower than the full-sized gun the coaches were using. It’s nice because it attracts much less attention than a full-sized gun. When you use it, it just looks like you’re pointing your cell phone to take a picture.
This device is called Pocket Radar and sells for $199. This is not an advertisement. I don’t sell this device or have any stake in the company that manufactures it (although I wish I did). I just thought it was a neat idea and am passing it along for whatever it’s worth.
