I am pondering a small question I came up with yesterday. I was throwing and I realized that I mostly throw with my arm loose. This I mean that at realse point, my arm is flexible. However, there is some soreness. When I stiffen up my arm at release, it doesnt hurt as much. Wat should i be doing.

The arm is neither stiff nor fully extended at ball release. It remains slightly flexed otherwise everyone would have arm injuries. Have you videotaped yourself and looked at it from the side angle at ball releaese? What is the position of your body – head, chest, arm and hand in relation to your front knee? Where is the ball in relation to your front foot? What position is your arm at the release position? The hand position will of course change depending on where the ball ends up in the strike zone. You should also check this from the rear angle. Is your body in the correct position at landing? Remember the arm and hand are the control devices of the ball…not the source of power. That being the case does it make sense that the arm would be stiff? Dick
