Staying on top of the ball simply refers to where your fingers are on the ball at ball release…If your fingers are on the side then you risk hanging a breaking pitch or a flat fastball (for those who have movement)
Ppl often confuse this with arm angle, however it’s possible to throw overhand and be on the “side” of the ball yet throw low 3/4 and be on “top”!
