I originally came to Dick because I knew nothing about pitching except I like to hit it! My son wanted to be a pitcher so I decided to go with Dick’s methodology. I live in South Orange County, CA a baseball hotbed and it is shocking to me that none of the local coaches video tape the younsters and all seem to be ex-pros with blown out shoulders. So I decided to open my mind and learn. Well I have been asked to manage the local 10U and serve as the picthing coach because I am the only one that has a clue about mechanics! The Pony League Team in Mission Viejo, Ca has some talented kids on my team—but their picthing mechanics are horrible. It is amazing the results I have been having with a little knowledge.
I am looking forward to learning all about pitching.
My son, Benjamin, is 8 and LOVES pitching. I’ve been watching all of Dick’s freebie utube videos and the stuff on the emails and I am pretty convinced he is right on the money. I finally broke down and bought the conditioning program so I can get started with him this summer.
Ben is in the South Mission Viejo LL and played AA this year. This was his 4th season playing plus two fall balls. He wants to be a great pitcher and has the motivation, but I just don’t if I can teach him. I see what he does wrong on his videos but I don’t know how to get him to do things differently. I’ve checked out some of the local pitching coaches and although they seem okay, I would rather hook up with someone that follows Dick’s philosophy. The “find your balance point” thing is driving me crazy!
If you would be interested in helping out (maybe for a small fee) I sure could use the help. Also, would love to pick your brain about the Pony League. My son played for the Fountain Valley Pony League when he was 4 years-old because LL wouldn’t let him play that young, but when we moved to Mission Viejo I put him in LL. Please shoot me an email (firstname.lastname@example.org) when you get a chance. Thanks, Donna
