The day of the game I ate beef stew 2hrs. before the game.I was in a hurry so I didn’t eat much. Also in your conditioning manual you have seated calve raises. Can these be done w/o a machine? I’ve never heard of them.
I started my routine 2 weeks ago.I took about 3 weeks off after the season.During my bullpens I throw all my pitches with game intensity. We’ve only had one game so far this summer.I pitched 3 innings.I have had this problem before,my freshman year.I’ll be a senior next year.
Last night I was pitching great.I was working fast and throwing strikes. In the bottom of the second I hit a double and the next batter struckout to end the inning. When I got back on the mound I was still catching my breath. My legs felt tired and my arm felt lazy.As a result my velocity and control suffered. What can I do to increase my stamina other than running sprints?Could doing more lower body lifting help or does it need to be more functional type lifting?
I throw 3 bullpens a week about 40-50 pitches.I haven’t started my off-season conditioning yet.I’m just runnning sprints for 20min. 3 times a week.I really don’t pay to much attention to the foods that I eat.I just make sure I eat a good meal before I play.If lifting won’t help how can I gain the stamina I’ll need to last the whole season?I’ll be starting my conditioning program next week.I’ll mostly be going by your off-season conditioning guide.
I’m 6ft. tall .How far do I need to stride to be at 90%?
If long toss doesn’t help to develope arm speed then what does. Also do you believe that a smaller pitcher will need to use a faster delivery than a bigger pitcher?
I have about 5 months before practice starts.Do you think I should do about 10 weeks of strength training before I start doing my flexibility and core training.I was told that when strength training you should do 3 sets of 5 w/ about 85% of your max.
I have a book that has a sample 10 week workout in it to increase strength. It only tells what weight to use,the number of sets, and reps.I’m still a little confused on if this applies to all body parts.I just recieved your video on flexibility and core training today and I’m going to follow Ginny’s workout.I was wondering about the strength training because on one of your tapes you said it is better to have a good strength base before starting this adv. core training.
What size med. balls should you use for throwing and rotational drills.I’m 16.I read you should go heavy.
Thanks for the advice.I feel really confident in my abilities as a pitcher.I know that if I play my game I’ll make it.I’ll let you know how it turns out.
I don’t know the name of it.A coach from a team we played during the season called me and said I should go.I will be finding out more about it in a few days.
Thursday I will be attending my first ever showcase. From what I heard there will be anywhere from 100-200 other players there. There will also be college coaches and scouts there. It’s only for upcomming juniors and seniors(I’m 16 by the way).I know that some of you have attended things like this before.I would really appreciate it if I could get some advice on what to do and what not to do.Anything will help.Oh yeah, they will also pick 25 players to play in a state showcase tournament.I’ll let you know how what happens. Thanks Innings-50 BB-23 k’s-63 hits32 complete games-4 total runs scored(unearned too)-23 Record:7-1 These are my stats. This year was my first year pitching in high school.I was our youngest pitcher and our #2 man.I also won the pitching award.I play for Millry High School. We were ranked 1# in 1A all year.We also set a school record by going 25-6.Thanks Mr. Mills I know this would have never happened for me without you.
I’ve been doing upper body plyometrics for about a month now and it doesn’t seem to be helping. I can’t feel it working any muscles.I’m 16 and I use a 8lb.Med.ball.Does anyone know any exercises I can do for my trunk it’s one of my weak areas.Mr.Mills do you have any videos that concentrate on building the trunk area? The exercises that I already do are the ones in the Ultimate Strength and Conditioning Guide.
Every week I do long toss 3 times w/ 60 throws and 1 bullpen of 50 throws. Is this to much throwing.I take good care of my arm and I don’t feel any discomfort.
Are you saying I should land directly in the middle? If I do will it take away from my velocity since I’m not landing as closed?
