Little League World Series - Comparing Two Successful Pitcher’s Mechanics
by Dick Mills on August 25, 2010
Here are two pitchers pitching in the 2010 Little League World Series. Their pitching mechanics are compared side-by-side so you can see which mechanical faults reduce pitching velocity, control and add stress to their arms.
Without regular videotaping it is impossible to notice or recognize whether positive change is occurring and many times pitchers are actually getting worse...since the movement of the pitching arm is the fastest human motion is all of sports. This is why instructors who just eyeball a pitcher's mechanics whether in games or practice cannot possibly recognize all the faults that reduce velocity or control. Or why a pitcher might have a sore arm.
For pitching velocity to improve mechanics must be improved. Velocity has been proven to come from the body not from arm strength.
Video analysis or learning now to videotape a pitcher is the most valuable tool for helping pitchers improve. After all if you are not able to recognize a mechanical fault then how will the pitcher go about fixing it.
During our one-on-one lessons here in Scottsdale, AZ we begin each lesson by first videotaping the pitcher and then showing him side by side against a major league pitcher so he fully understands why he should make certain changes. This helps motivate the pitcher to continue to practice the recommended adjustments.
Parents should understand that the longer they wait to videotape their sons pitching, the longer it takes to make the needed adjustments since poor habits are much tougher to break.
Our Explosive Pitching Instructional DVD program teaches parents an easy way to help their sons use their bodies to pitch instead of just their arms. Not only does this improve velocity but reduces the risk of arm injuries. We also teach them proper conditioning.

Plus we do side-by-side voice over Video Analysis for pitchers at all levels. This may be the most important pitching tool available today.

"I had spent several hundred dollars on a pitching coach who was leading my son down the path to ruin. He embraced every failed philosophy and technique you've identified - long toss, towel drills and more drills ad nauseum. My son's skills were deteriorating. When I found your website and read your report, I sense intuitively your words had merit and deserved further study."
